ABOUT MKI
OVERVIEW
- The Indonesian Electrical Power Society (MKI) was established in 1998, based on the spirit of Law No. 15/1985 on Electricity, by then stakeholders of the Indonesian electrical power industry as a forum of communication, coordination and consultation for the Indonesian electrical power sector.
- MKI is a non-profit organization which activities involve formulating opinions and ideas to develop and expand the electrical power industry in Indonesia, at the national as well as international levels toward a self reliance industry characterized by the motto: “brighter, stronger, affordable, and outspread”. MKI members comprise of all stakeholders in the electrical power sector from the upstream to the downstream, covering the entire value chain of activities.
- MKI membership covers all elements individuals, associations, companies, cooperatives, and academics, nationals as well as internationals, which are directly associated with electrical power sector activities in Indonesia from primary energy suppliers to producers of electricity, equipment manufacturers and support services, down to consumers.
- In accordance with with the prevailing law on electricity, the Government of Indonesia shall obtain inputs in the form of public and industry opinions and views in their efforts to develop a broad base, integrated general plan of the national electrical power system. MKI constitutes the right partner for the Government to provide inputs and views with broad perspective and quality covering technology, business and regulatory aspects in line with the wide coverage of MKI memberships.
- One of the benefits of MKI membership is that the positions or views, advocacies and opinions of each member as a player in the Indonesian electrical power sector can be channeled and have a chance to be heard by the policy maker as stipulated by the law.

will support the people's welfare through synergy and effective use of national
resources to its utmost potential

To
build a forum of communication and consultation that bolsters the synergy and
togetherness in enhancing the efficiency of environmentally friendly national
electrical power industry in facing the era of integrated and competitive
global market. To
take proactive role in creating an ethical and conducive business climate for
developing all aspects of the national electrical power industry in the process
of sustainable national development.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
Provide
inputs to Government Of Indonesia in preparing for the framework of the
Indonesian electrical power system development. Build
the effectiveness of and the synergy among the national electrical power
potentials for the purpose of developing the national electrical power system. Build
international network to develop the national resources through cooperation,
alliance as well as technology transfer in the framework of enhancing the
national electrical power system in anticipation of the global economy era.
MKI'S POSITION
THE ROLE OF MKI IN THE MAKING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF REGULATIONS

MKI provides recommendations/proposals for achieving the NZE 2060 target through its White Paper and Expert Council studies.

MKI conducts strategic/supportive activities to ensure the achievement of the NZE 2060 target through assistance/guidance in implementation.
MKI HAS EXISTED IN SEVERAL REGIONS IN INDONESIA
MKI Wilayah refers to the regional branches of the MKI organization located in various provinces or regions in Indonesia. Each region serves to voice local interests, support electricity development programs in their areas, and act as a forum for discussion and collaboration at the regional level on electricity-related issues

Through the HLN event, MKI also carries out social programs in the form of providing Distance Learning Devices (Laptop, Solar Panels, and supporting equipment) to 3 locations in the 3T region in 2020-2021, and a fund assistance program for the earthquake victims in Cianjur (2022).

BOOK/STUDY DEVELOPMENT
Periodically, MKI prepares a White Paper containing ideas and recommendations to support a sustainable and healthy electricity sector, which is submitted to the Government. In 2022, the MKI White Paper formulated the strategies and policies required to support the energy transition and the achievement of Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060.
The MKI Board of Experts also prepared a study book titled “Realizing a Sustainable Electricity Sector,” which presents insights and expert perspectives from various fields within the electricity and energy sectors.
