MKI and Swissmem Solidify Cooperation in the Electrical Power Sector through MoU Signing at the 'Innovative Solutions in Infrastructure Development' Event

JAKARTA, October 3, 2025 – The Indonesian Electrical Power Society (Masyarakat Ketenagalistrikan Indonesia or MKI) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Swissmem, the association representing the Swiss mechanical and electrical engineering, metals, and related technology sectors. The signing took place at the prestigious 'Innovative Solutions in Infrastructure Development' event in Jakarta.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), and the Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, H.E. Guy Parmelin. The signing was conducted by MKI's Vice Chairman, Mr. Andri Doni, and witnessed by Mr. Martin Hirzel, President of Swissmem.

This MoU marks a crucial step in strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and Switzerland in the development of the electricity sector. In his address, MKI Vice Chairman Andri Doni stated that MKI, as a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the development of Indonesia's electricity sector, will facilitate promotion, dialogue, and collaboration between Indonesian and Swiss business associations.

Through this partnership, MKI and Swissmem will organize various activities, including:

  • Exchange of technological information.

  • Access to training and advanced education information.

  • Provision of a business desk.

  • Investment overview.

Andri Doni also highlighted the enormous investment opportunities in Indonesia's electricity sector, particularly those supporting the country's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. The electricity sector is tasked with reducing emissions by 152 million metric tons of , which will be achieved through the Accelerated Renewable Energy Development (ARED) program.

"Indonesia's electricity sector is highly open to collaboration with various parties. In PLN's Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025-2034, power generation investment reaches Rp 2,134 Trillion, with more than 73% allocated to the private sector (IPP)," explained Andri Doni. This significant investment allocation to Independent Power Producers (IPP) and existing partnership schemes — such as the EPC Scheme (PLN), Strategic Partnership with GENCO Sub-Holdings, and the IPP Scheme — opens vast opportunities for private sector participation in the development of electricity infrastructure.

"Given the immense investment value and the tight timeframe for project execution, innovative solutions are clearly essential," added Andri Doni.

It is hoped that this MoU will be successfully implemented and enhance cooperation between the Indonesian and Swiss communities, creating a synergy that drives innovation and mutual progress in realizing sustainable electricity infrastructure development.
