MKI AND THE MINISTRY OF INVESTMENT AND DOWNSTREAMING STRENGTHEN SYNERGY IN ELECTRICITY SECTOR INVESTMENT

Jakarta, 9 June 2026 – In an effort to strengthen the investment climate and support the development of Indonesia’s national electricity sector, a meeting was held between the Indonesian Electricity Society (MKI) and the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming to discuss strategic collaboration opportunities in support of Indonesia’s energy transition agenda. The meeting was attended by representatives from MKI’s Division VI for Electricity Services and Products Industry and the Director of Business Licensing Services for Non-Industrial Sectors of BKPM.

The meeting also formed part of the preparations for Electricity Connect 2026, which will be held on 22–24 September 2026 at ICE BSD. Discussions highlighted the importance of providing integrated information for investors, covering licensing procedures through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, PLN’s Selected Vendor List (DPT) mechanism, and the licensing process for obtaining an Electricity Supply Business License (IUPTL).

In addition, participants discussed various challenges and opportunities in renewable energy development, including the achievement of Indonesia’s 100 GW solar power target, geothermal energy expansion, and strategies for transitioning power generation facilities outside the Java region.

BKPM expressed its full support for Electricity Connect 2026 through the provision of consultation helpdesks, the development of operational guidelines for investors, and the facilitation of broader collaboration with industrial estates, the banking sector, and other relevant institutions. The importance of harmonizing information and licensing processes across ministries and government agencies, including the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) and the Ministry of Environment (KLH), was also emphasized to ensure investors receive comprehensive end-to-end services.

The meeting reflects the shared commitment of MKI and BKPM to strengthening a more integrated, transparent, and competitive electricity investment ecosystem. Through sustained collaboration and synergy, it is expected that more strategic investments will be realized to accelerate Indonesia’s energy transition and support the development of national electricity infrastructure.
